Basic Freediver

This course introduces breath-hold diving and safety techniques in a confined water (pool) environment. You’ll learn how to use freediving equipment, practice static and dynamic apnea, and develop relaxation and breathing strategies that lay the foundation for deeper diving.

Student Prerequisites:

Minimum age: 10 years old

Be able to swim 83 feet (25 meters) without swim or buoyancy aids
Basic Spearfishing

Sharpen your underwater hunting instincts and learn to dive with purpose. This course introduces you to the essential techniques, safety skills, and ethical practices of spearfishing while building on your freediving foundation.

SSI Basic Freediver Course
Freediver Certification

Ready to take your training deeper? This foundational certification combines confined and open water sessions to help you dive safely to depth. You’ll master safety protocols, breath-up and recovery breathing, duck diving, streamlining, and effective finning. This is the first full certification for those interested in recreational freediving or going on to advanced training.

Spearfishing Safety and Training

Take your spearfishing to the next level with a focus on safety, strategy, and advanced techniques. This course is designed for certified freedivers who want to train for real-world scenarios, improve buddy team dynamics, and dive deeper into ethical and effective spearfishing.

SSI Freediver Certification
Freddiving Instructor Training Course

Become a fully certified SSI Freediving Instructor and lead your own courses. You’ll learn how to conduct classroom, pool, and open water training, assess student performance, and ensure safety standards. This program is for serious professionals ready to educate and inspire the next generation of divers.

Candidate Prerequisites:

Minimum age: 18 years old

Hold Advanced Freediver and Training Techniques certifications

Logged at least 100 freediving sessions

Surface Swim (Unassisted): 440 yards in ≤ 15 minutes

Surface Swim (with mask, fins, snorkel): 875 yards in ≤ 15 minutes

Tread Water: 15 minutes
